No, I mean the characters themselves are just amazing. However the book stands out above the rest of the YA Fantasy series I’ve had the pleasure of reading, and I don’t mean because it takes place in the South. A seemingly ordinary young girl is taken out of the comfortable and normal world she knows and thrown into this chaotic, life or death world filled with magic, mayhem and death. This book definitely reminded me so much of The Mortal instruments by Cassandra Clare.
